She is thwarting her father, now buried, because he told her: You Shall Have No Other, meaning: no other man.
This video creates the illusion that it is day going into night, but the end shows the camera backing up from a computer screen, Cloudio.
The poem ends with Wallace Steven’s ‘th the’ taken from the end of his poem ‘Man on the Dump’ The last Cloudio poem in You Shall Have No Other also ends with ‘the th’. Several meanings: an object, and the issue of perception as Stevens’ had particular views on reality and imagination.
